A Strong Future for the Genesian

Share |

The Genesian Theatre is proud to present our 67th Season in 2011-2012.

Hitchcock's famous The 39 Steps has been given an amazing makeover as a thrilling and hilarious trip through the murky world of spies and counter-spies in the lead-up to WWII. Four actors play dozens of different roles and there are planes, trains and automobiles, spooky castles and London theatres. Don't miss it.

The wonderful world of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey is next. The brilliant way the two stories of the novel and the imaginings of our heroine are interwoven is very clever. It is a fresh and fast-paced telling of a traditional favourite.

Yes, it's true! It's Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap. This will be a total sell-out so make sure you get in early and book this. We are so proud to be the first theatre in the City of Sydney to be producing this play, but remember; the tradition is you mustn't tell anyone the ending.

Oscar Wilde's magnificent An Ideal Husband follows and it is amazing how modern many of the issues in this play seem to us. Integrity, loyalty and betrayal are examined and the outcome is inspiring. Sumptuous costumes are guaranteed.

It might be January but for the 100th anniversary of Captain Scott's ill-fated mission we have something very special. The unbelievably moving and emotional Terra Nova is based on the letters he and his wife wrote but then never saw. This is theatre at its very best and I urge you to make a booking for this very special play.

Our final play is The Merchant of Venice. This play is not often performed and we are determined our telling of this classic tale will be modern, fresh and exciting and most importantly, very accessible to the wider audience.

I look forward to seeing you at our shows and remember we are licensed as well.
