The Genesian Theatre is proud to present our 74th Season in 2018
- Sherlock Holmes and the Speckled Band by Arthur Conan Doyle adapted by Max Gee
- The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde
- The Unexpected Guest by Agatha Christie
- The Ghost Train by Arnold Ridley
It is my very great pleasure to welcome you to the Genesians 74th season.
We are delighted to start with a classic of detective fiction; Sherlock Holmes and the Speckled Band in a brand new adaptation from Conan Doyle's original by British playwright Max Gee. One for the true believers, this is, elementarily, the very best of Holmes.
Just over 20 years ago I made my Genesian debut in Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest. A perfect play for our theatre, this overdue revival will introduce a whole new audience to the joys of bunburying, handbags, and those hard to obtain cucumber sandwiches.
From July we tip our hats to the Genesian favourite and best selling novelist ever, Agatha Christie, with her ingenious mystery The Unexpected Guest. This production is certain to sell out - book now!
The final play in our 2018 season is Arnold Ridley's spooky classic The Ghost Train, a haunting thriller with an ingenious plot and lots of humorous moments that has thrilled and entertained audiences for decades.
2018 marks a watershed for the Genesians with the sale of our premises at Kent Street. We cannot yet make an announcement in regard to our future plans, but we will continue, and we hope with your support that 2018 will mark the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in our long history.
In the meantime we look forward to celebrating our 2018 plays with you. This will be a very special season and we'd love you to be part of it!
