Lorca (A new translation by Barry Nielsen)
A woman’s yearning for a child becomes an all-consuming obsession in Lorca’s haunting tragedy. Nielsen’s new translation of this Spanish classic – completing his acclaimed trilogy following The House of Bernarda Alba and Blood Wedding – is raw, poetic, and devastatingly powerful. A visceral story of desire, repression, and the shattering consequences of unfulfilled longing.
Please note: this production is a new translation from the original work. Many people may have seen the National Theatre version with Billie Piper in the lead role. That was a very loose, very modernised adaptation and is very different from the original work. This production will be placed in a more traditional setting, but not in any particular place or time. The play’s themes are still relevant today.
