Role descriptions

It is a truth universally acknowledged… that a play is in want of actors. We’re looking for bold, high-energy performers with strong comic timing, physicality and a willingness to completely embrace the ridiculous. If you’ve ever wanted to play half of Regency England in one evening… this is your moment. American accents, English accents, Movie trailer-voice-over-epicness, Scottish, Irish, Northern…
(we will be working with a dialect coach!)

One newbie and two self-professed Janeites, through almost all means imaginable, tackle the entire canon of Jane Austen’s works – in just 80 minutes.

Charlotte, Aka “Chuck” F, 18 – 50 Plays a lot of roles – the “alto” of the trio she has more sense than prejudice, a huge love for Persuasion, and the largest monologue in the play. Needs a quick witted sassy female who is great with character work and comedy, and smuggles an assortment of accents around with her.

Jessica, F, 18 – 35 Plays a lot of roles – the “soprano” of the trio she has a kitty kind of energy and passion for Austen, a huge love for Pride and Prejudice. Needs a quick witted sassy female who is great with character work and comedy, also needs to dally in accent work for fun.

Trevor, M, 25 – 40 Aka “Harry” takes a chance that the girls might need a replacement male for their show, and with no prior knowledge of ANY of the Austen novels, gets thrust into the deep end. Plays icons such as Mr Darcy, Mr Bennet, and Mr Knightley. Needs great comic timing, a love of ridiculous characters and an array of accents up his sleeve.
